O Gauge Models Announced At The SVR O Gauge Get Together

New O Gauge Models Announced

Dapol were delighted to announce the launch of three new models at this years Severn Valley Railway O Gauge Get Together. These include the Great  Western ‘MOGO’, the SR 12T van and the Great Western Railway and the Great Western Toad Brake Van.

Great Western ‘MOGO’

The MOGO had a 12-ton capacity and is fitted with end doors and wheel bars to allow a motor car to be loaded and transported in a goods train, hence its telegraph code 'MOGO'.  The early MOGO vans had planked bodies but were later constructed with ply body sides.

Proposed Models & RRP

Dapol are proposing to produce two MOGO vans in this first production run, these are listed below:

The recomended retail price of these models is £51.40

 

Southern Railway 12T Van

This is the standard Southern Railway goods van with a 10 foot wheelbase and distinctive elliptical roof. About 1000 fitted vans were built 1936-38 with even planked sides, the SR later built uneven planked versions as well as Ply sided vans later in their construction history. Dapol will be making the even planked version of these vans.

Great Western Toad Brake Van

After World War One in 1918, more 20-ton vans to the improved design were built with G W R self-contained buffers and given Diagram AA15. A total of 378 were built between 1918 and 1927. The next development was the AA19 which were built between 1927 and 1931 incorporating many RCH parts such as buffers and axleboxes but utilising the same body, total constructed 221 vans. Diagram AA 20 followed was externally identical to the AA19 vans with a total of 354 being built between 1934 and 1943.

 

The Diagram AA21 was for 100 Vacuum fitted vans built 1939/1940, being built with full vacuum brake gear with the brake cylinder in the front of the brake veranda.

Progress

Artworks for theMOGO & SR Vans is complete and the team is waiting for the decorated samples to arrive. these models are expected to be in shops some time during Q2 2023.

 

The Toad Brake vans are about to go into tooling, we expect to see these models in shops sometime during Q4 2023
